I'm working on my album for 2025. Working title is 4,3,2,ONE.

I'm aiming to have it done by the end of the year.

January 4, 2024 - Happy New Year edition

My new album, Private Places, is mixed and mastered. I'm working on packaging and the administrative things. Hopefully done by the end of the week.

Did you have a good summer?

Rocky and I went on a road trip out west in June with my daughter to visit family. Got a chance to rest on a beach for a bit.

Hey, long time to see... it's been a busy year. I can't believe I haven't done an update since April.

This year's album is in final mastering and reivew. My goal is to have the activity done before Christmas and be ready to release just after. That's the plan and we'll see if I make it.

I've been executing a 5 year plan with writing music and production.

The first year was to work out a song writing workflow and learn the tools for studio production. The music composition was a lower concern than learning tools. I worked with the first idea that came to mind and "polish the turd", if you know what I mean. The second year goal built on the previous year's with more attention to compositon, reinforce studio production methodology and understand the mystical art of mastering.

The third, fourth and fifth year works were seeking for new musical horizons in sound, texture and composition, all the while diligently working on perfecting studio production and mastering.

I never anticipated the mount of detail and time that goes into an album. It's rewarding and fun but *very* time consuming. It's been an eye opener.

Now it time to work on the next step of the plan - going commercial. Interesting times ahead.

I'm getting down to the mix's spit and polish. I'm into the minor tweaks and adjustments and then on to the road to ruin mastering and final listening.

Wow, this has been a very busy year. So much happened, including a 4 week long road trip to British Columbia.

Anyway, while the website is quiet the studio is not. I'm working on the 2022 album. It's going to be an 8 song album and ready sometime in January... or when it's ready.

Maybe 2023 will be a bit slower but from where I'm sitting it looks like the pace is gettingquicker. Anyway, music is in progress and I'll update soon.

December 29, 2021 - Album update

We're in the final spit polish of this year's album. It's going to be a 10 song album called, "Watching the Monkeys".

October 24 - Album update

This year�s album has 9 songs and tentatively called, �Cloudy with a chance of rain�. I�m almost done laying down tracks and I have a concept for the cover so I�m a bit ahead of scheduled compared to previous years. However, now that I mentioned that fact I probably jinxed myself.

June 13 - Yes, it's been a while...

None of my plans for the year have gone the way I expected. I got involved in helping to liquidate an estate. Needless to say, it's been very time consuming. A couple more weeks it will be over and I'll be able to devote more time to music.

I'm not really into the modular thing but I like using drones so... I got the 'ultimate' drone machine. I picked up a Behringer 2600 about 2 months ago. The 2600 is Behringer's remake of the classic 70's synthesiser, the Arp 2600. I think Behringer got it right and captured the unique sonic essence of the original and added some minor improvements to make it a more flexible machine. It's a wonderful sounding synth capable of delivering whatever you ask from it. I hope to get it in a track this year.

December 31 - My goal was to release in 2020 and...

as they say in Japan, "Giri giri seifu! (just in the knick of time)"

October 12 - Fall update

Work on the next album is under way. Thanks to Covid-19 I have 10 candidate songs for the next release. All songs are tracked and I'm about to start turd polishing - editing, finalizing arrangements and producing a rough mix. I think possibly 9 of the 10 will come out the otherside but we'll see.

July 19 - Mid-year update

Well, this update is long over due but I think everyone knows what kind of year we're having. ;-)
2020 came and basically said, "Here, hold my beer, I've got some stuff to do". And stuff happened!
At this point it's starting to look we're getting a bit of a breather but don't hold your breath for long because we have the US election this November. What could possibly go wrong, eh?

Anyway, life goes on and I'm working on music.

August 27 - New/old Flight 401.

I found a 4 track recording of Flight 401. I did a bit of remastering and it's not too bad. Check it out in the Past Projects page.

August 26 - Old music coming soon.

I pulled out my tapes of Sparrows on the Hood studio recordings. The tapes are holding up fairly well but there are signs that they won't last another 30 years so I digitized them. I thought that listen to it again would be cringeworthy experience but it wasn't all that bad. The quality of the recordings are a bit disappointing but on the whole they should clean up nicely. I think putting them up on the site will be a nice little side project.

August 2019 update.

New music and projects are in the works. I have several good song ideas to finalize over the coming months. ETA for this year's release is Christmas.
